Tyler D. Hunter, DO, MBA

Dr. Tyler D. Hunter is a fellowship-trained pain medicine specialist whose approach to care is shaped by a unique perspective, one that began on the patient side of medicine. Born with clubbed feet and having experienced multiple musculoskeletal injuries throughout his youth, Dr. Hunter understands firsthand the physical, emotional, and psychological toll pain can have. These early experiences inspired his commitment to pursuing medicine and ultimately to helping others regain function, mobility, and quality of life.

Dr. Hunter specializes in interventional pain management, where he focuses on identifying and treating the root causes of pain through a comprehensive, patient-centered approach. He is particularly passionate about delivering care that goes beyond symptom management, addressing the full spectrum of each patient’s experience to restore independence and preserve the activities that matter most to them. He values the combination of hands-on procedures, anatomical precision, and meaningful patient relationships that define his field.

After earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Kansas City University and an MBA from Rockhurst University, Dr. Hunter completed his anesthesiology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), where he served as Chief Resident. He is currently completing advanced fellowship training in pain medicine at UTMB, equipping him with the expertise to treat complex pain conditions across all stages, from acute injury to chronic pain.

Dr. Hunter remains actively involved in advancing the field through clinical research, presentations, and leadership. His work has been presented at national conferences, and he is a member of leading professional organizations, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the North American Neuromodulation Society, and the Texas Pain Society.

His clinical practice spans a wide range of advanced and minimally invasive treatments, including spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, image-guided injections, and other interventional procedures designed to reduce pain while avoiding more invasive surgery when possible. Dr. Hunter emphasizes the importance of innovation balanced with thoughtful, evidence-based care, ensuring that every treatment is both appropriate and beneficial for the individual patient.

A proud member of the community he serves, Dr. Hunter has deep personal ties to the area where he now practices. Having grown up locally and received care from the very providers who inspired his career, he is passionate about delivering the same high level of compassionate, community-centered care to his patients today.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Hunter enjoys biking and yoga, and he values spending time with his wife, son, and extended family. He is also an active supporter of local high school athletics and enjoys attending Friday night football games.
