Physical Therapy FAQ’s
What can I expect on my 1st visit?
You will meet with one of our physical therapists for an initial evaluation. You and the therapist will discuss your current condition and previous level of function. The therapist will perform baseline tests and measures to determine your specific deficits. Using the information gathered during the initial evaluation and information provided by your doctor, the therapist establishes an appropriate treatment plan. Your treatment plan is individualized to your rehabilitation needs and your lifestyle.
How long will my appointments last?
Allow 1 hour for your initial evaluation and follow up appointments. A typical appointment lasts 45-60 minutes.
What should I wear?
Please wear comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement. Physical therapy most often consists of physical activity. Athletic type shoes and exercise attire are recommended. If your condition involved your knee, please wear or bring shorts for easy access to the knee joint
How often will I attend therapy?
At the completion of the initial evaluation, you and your therapist will establish a schedule of appointments. Frequency of attendance varies from 1 to 3 times per week and tapers down as your function improves. Since your treatment program will be individualized for your needs, the frequency of your appointments will be set to best suit you.
How do I schedule a therapy appointment?
Your doctor will write a prescription for therapy services when you are seen in their office. You can schedule an appointment in the doctor’s office when you check out from your visit. You can also contact the therapy office to schedule your appointments.
